Could someone please tell how to make my movies which are ripped from DVD's small enough to fit on a 4.7 DVDr.
Is there any programs to compress which retain quality ?
I can rip DVD's no problems using DVD decrypter and ifoedit and then burn no problem.
Many Thanks for your patience!

You may find one or more of Doom9's guides helpful. Try Cutting a VOB for miniDVD (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/alternative_step_4.htm).

Now that the price of DVD-R media has come down, it's worth while using IFOEDIT to rip a DVD9 into 2 x DVD5 (Watch out for the menu on Disc2). It certainly beats cutting the quality down to compress the long & detailed films these days onto one DVD5. The last few films I have done Harry Potter, Hannibal etc have about 6 to 7 gig in the main film VOBs!! To compress it by around 50% would be silly as you can get DVD-R for 85p each !!(thepriceiswrite.co.uk) Mine work in all the stand-a-lones I've tried them in.
Happy Ripping;)
