View Full Version : AC3 audio breaking up

I've done about 25 DivX to SVCD using DVD2SVCD (AVI2SVCD). I'm now starting to do each step separately rather than using DVD2SVCD. I use CCE - SP 2.5 and usually BeSweet. I've redone the AC3 audio about 5 times on Toy Story 2 with AC3 and I still get a few places where the sound breaks up during explosions and such. I've also tried using Besplit but that didn't help.

I've followed the guides at Doom's for BeSweet, setting LFE to LR Channels -3 db, Dynamic compression - normal, Auto find max gain, mode - joint stereo, azid - use AC3 Decoder, CBR - 192.

When I use DVD2SVCD to convert DivX to SVCD, I always select downsample 48 > 44.1 but when I do each step manually using BeSweet I'm haven't been able to get it to come out with 44.1. I read several places that it's not necessary to downsample to 44.1 and it just wastes time but it's the only thing I can think of that might be causing the problem when I play it on my standalone DVD. I tried an expensive DVD standalone in a store and had the same problem. There DOESN'T seem to be a problem when playing on my PC (don't have a DVD player). The sound only breaks up in certain places.

I would like to try downsampling if someone can tell me how to get BeSweet to do that. I selected "Downconvert sample rate" but that wasn't working.

Also when I run this from a command line it comes out 128 bitrate instead of 192.

When I first started using BeSweet about 4 months ago I wasn't able to get the current version 1.11 (21 kb) to work. I found using the previous version 1.0 (44 kb) worked great for me. Before I made my first post today I installed BeSweet 1.3b11 and that wouldn't work for me also so I'm still using BeSweet 1.0 (I think that's the version I'm using).

I think my audio problem has to do with a bad AC3 file. I also had a 1 CD version of Toy Story 2 (of course the quality is lower), so I'm using the video from the 2 CD version and the audio from the 1 CD version. This one is also breaking up at the exact same places. The first audio source was AC3 and the second is mp3. I tried everything and the results are the still the same. It doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it has to do with the muxing with bbMPEG. I also muxed with TMPG with the same results.

I would like to thank all the people at Doom's forum, especially those that develop and support the great programs I have found here. I don't want to mention any of them because I might leave some out. I'm truly amazed at the wealth of knownledge that is available here.

No, it's not a bad ac3 file. I did the DivX to SVCD conversion using DVD2SVCD instead of doing each step separately with CCE, BeSweet, bbMPEG etc and I have NO audio problems..

I think the problem has to do with me following a guide "how to get the most out of CCE". During that process I did the 1st and 2nd pass with a max bitrate of 9800, as described in the guide. When I play it in FlaskMpeg it says bitrate 9800, I think that's where the problem is but I still haven't determined that for sure.
