Ok this has happened tome twice now ...with Star Wars 1 and Jurassic park1 ...Both authored in Spruce up.

The prob is this .....after rencoding in TMPGenc 2.54 using 23.976 fps and 3:2 pulldown for NTSC 525 line video (progressive non-interlaced)

I end up with an M2V that plays fine on the PC screenn ..no fields there. But upon authoring and burning to DVDv I get field probs on playback.

The 3:2 pull down is creating fields which are out of order.......

How can I fix this and CHECK it before I burn the DVD. I tried switching field order in the TMPGenc output but...no luck.

I dont understand....the 3:2 is for PLAYBACK ..that is THE DVD player is supposed to creats those extra fields.....how the heck are they out of order? TMPGenc encodes at 24 fps (no fields) with 3:2 flags so the player makes the damn fields.

Someone help me out here.

Ok, sounds like some settings problems:

First off, check how you ripped your source material. If it's from a DVD and you ripped it with DVD2AVI, chances are that it was ripped using the FILM setting.

In this case, your incoming video file is already 24p, and you don't need to apply any IVTC to it. Just set the encoder to progressive frames non-interlace and let it rip (with 3:2 pulldown on playback selected).

You only need the IVTC option if your source material contains interlaced frames. Load up the source file in virtualdub and have a look. If you see interlace fields, then yes, you need to IVTC it.

Let me know if it does/doesn't work.
