I used DVD2AVI's VFAPI feature to send the stream to virtualdub. I resized, ran a deinterlace to ensure nothing was misses by Force Film. I started frameserver, sent it to AVIUTL, where I uses Lotus M4C to encode.

I used the Graph Edit filters to decode the AC3 in from DVD2AVI. I used Cool Edit 2000 to reample.

Anyway, when I used the audio, applying the offset, the begining was fine, but by the end, I was a few seconds off  . This was done by seeking in VirtualDub. I did not use a VBR mp3.

I'm not experienced in the encoding tools you mention. Why VFAPI and not AVS?

As to your problem, have you tried muxing the AC3 in with NanDub to see if syncs? Does the AC3 show the same total time as the video?

It is a different length- it isn't just a playing problem. As far as AVS, I'm looking into it. If it is new, I haven't tried it yet.

Well I would guess that your encoder has stretched the video as I'm pretty confident D2A isn't going to be the culprit. If it's not off by much, you could always play around with the frame rate in the in the Vdub/NanDub video menu. I've read a few posts where some have selected "Change video and audio duration to match" and this has worked for them.

AVS has been around quite along time, maybe longer than VFAPI. I highly suggest you have a look at the Gknot guide using DVD2AVI, Vdub and AVS. Sync issues disappear and the quality is about as good as you can get:) Not to mention AVS is faster than VFAPI.
