Hi

Been following the CCE guide to backup Spy Game. Have 2 AC3 files (main audio and commentary track) and 1 MPV file. Bitrate on the video is about 4063 average. I am now in Scenarist trying to re-mux and getting error saying total birate is too high. Tried again with just the main audio track and it seems to be working (fingers crossed). Anyone know where I went wrong? Why won't it accept my alternative tracks? Do you reckon it is something wrong with the way I am using Scenarist - I am a newbie with Scenarist!!

Cheers

You posted this question in the DVD Authoring forum as well. I'm fairly new here but I know "cross posting" is frowned upon.

but...the DVD Spec mandates a bitrate no higher than 9.8mb/s (if I remember correctly) and it sounds like your program may have peaks higher than that. I've run into the same error before and I always fixed it by reincoding at a lower bitrage setting for the 'maximum.'

good luck

More info from me!!

I wanted movie and 2 audio tracks. The main audio was 448kbs and the other 128kbs (I think). I couldn't mux all 3 in scenarist - complained about total bitrate too high. I tried with just the movie and main audio and this was OK. So I am confused. Given that movie and main audio clearly meets the required standards, why wouldn't it let me have the second additional audio track given it was a lower bitrate? Any ideas? (BTW, main video peaked at 9664kbs)

Latest info - I re-encoded the video and have now managed to get scenarist to mux all three but I still don't know why I couldn't do all 3 before.

On a related issue, should I have told CCE that max rate was 9.6Mbs instead of 9.8?

Cheers

You can have 9.8MBit Bitrate for ALL streams including Audio Streams. I did this mistake at my first time too :)

So, you have 9800*1.024 = 10035 KBit as maximum Bitrate

If you have a 448kBit for AC3 Stream and 128kBit for MP2/3 Stream you can only set a maximum Bitrate in CCE to 9459... so set it to 9400 and you have space for some stuff too :)
