I have been successfully producing SVCDs from DVD using CCE 2.50 with an old version of DVD2SVCD on my old Athalon based computer under Windows ME.

However I can't get it to work with DVD2SVCD 1.09b1 on my new Dell Pentium 4 based computer with Windows 2000 Pro. About an hour into the process CCE fails with an error message: "Video check sum is different from that of a previous pass ..."

I recall seeing a number of postings on another forum concerning problems CCE freezing under Windows 2000, but not this.

This computer has exhibited several glitches from day one, so I'm suspecting either a hardware problem or a botched installation of the OS.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of a CCE checksum error?

This is strike 1 for breaking forum rule #1 and 1a.

You didn't do a search or read the Q + A.

If you did either you would have found your answer. There are probably a 100 posts on this subject. This is why it's even a question in the Q + A.

It's a very common issue.

CCE has no tolerance for memory timing problems and other issues. It's probably the most sensitive program I have ever seen. 99.9% of programs would never have an issue with most computers CCE does.

Try setting your memory timings in your Bios a little less aggressive. If you are overclocking slow the computer down.

Run the Prime95 Torture test and memtest86 both of which are linked in the Q + A.

If all else fails there is a patch linked in the Q + A, but try to get CCE working without the patch first.
