Issue in latest build within the CCE process

I will post my log file later when I have access to it but I wondered if anyone might recognise the symptoms.

I successfully completed 2 backups already with the latest build.

I fired off '51st State' this morning and before leaving it I noticed that during the creation of the .vaf file it seemed to be running unusually fast about 2.635 it procuduced the .vaf in just over half an hour for a 1hr 30 min movie. I've come back to it and CCE GPF'd during the encoding process and XP through up the standard message the the program had encountered a problem.

These 4 backups were ripped using the 'rip only' option and then they are being created one at a time by editing the batch file. They all had the same settings and 2 have successfully created already.

I was using 4 pass VBR and the only D2S option I selected this build that Is different to past builds is ticking the anti-noise option with the default value.

I think this exactly causes the problem on your system, because turning on the CCE noise filter option is now known to let CCE freeze on some systems, so you might have to turn it off or you could try to use a "Luminance gain" and "Offset" of "5" in "DVD2AVI" tab and see if this will help when having the CCE noise filter turned off. This will slightly brighten the encoded movie but as the conversions tend to be always a little darker than the original you will see no difference (I use these settings every time now).

P.S. Some reported using the "MPEG2DEC2.DLL" instead of the "MPEG2DEC.DLL" in "Frameserver" tab also helped with the CCE freezing - you might want to try that too.

Thanks for that gerti67. It's weird that it is such a prominent option on the encoder tab if it doesn't work !

I don't need it really because the quality is always great anyway I just thought I'd give it a try.

PS. This wasn't the old freeze issue, it crashed CCE. And as I say it did the weird mega fast .vaf file first. Also when I looked at that later it was only 27Mb !!

I stripped everything back to the vob's and ifo file. I renamed all the avisynth.dll's I found on my machine to old accept the one in system32 and the one under the dvd2svcd install directory.

I opened D2S and browsed to the ifo file, starting a new project. I unchecked the anti-noise option, even though I thought this was strange because 2 other movies on this build had worked with that option.

I fired things off again this was the progress below. CCE crashed again. I noticed that the movie length in the CCE window was incorrect it said 1hr 12 mins, when the movie is 1hr 32 Mins. Do you think it was just a bad rip in the first place ? Log below

Hi equilibrium,

It's weird that it is such a prominent option on the encoder tab if it doesn't work !This option only causes issues on some systems that (in my humble opinion) have hardware stability issues - I've done about 80 or so conversions with this setting turned on and never had a problem with it. So, in general this option works pretty well - it's only on some systems where it can possibly cause a CCE freeze.

Back to your last posts:

What about playing the ripped VOBs in DVD2AVI or a software player - do they play and show up correctly? - How long is the movie according to their reports?

What about playing the "AviSynth_Script_file.avs" in Windows MediaPlayer? - Does it play correctly?

Did you rip the VOBs with the internal routines in the first place? - If not, please try this.

I successfully completed another one of the batch of rips last night. So I guess there must have been an issue with that one. I will try playing the vob's this evening.

It was done with internal routines.
