I have been using IfoEdit and ReMPEG2 on about a dozen movies with no problems at all. Then recently I ran into a couple of problems and I am hoping that someone here can help:
1. On “Heist”, I ripped the entire DVD using SmartRipper and then stripped it down using IfoEdit so that I had just the movie and the AC-3 soundtrack. Since the total size was around 5 gigs, I tried using ReMPEG2 to transcode the video, but every time I try to do it, ReMPEG2 crashes (under Win XP) at the same point every time. I have tried reripping the DVD, doing the IfoEdit thing several times, but no matter what I do, ReMPEG crashes at the same point each time. Any ideas?
2. After ReMPEG2 failed me, I tried encoding the movie with TMPG, and although the video looked fine, when I used IfoEdit to remux the streams, the audio sync was off by about 15 or 20 seconds. How can I remux the audio back in sync?
3. After transcoding about a dozen movies successfully, all of a sudden I am getting an extremely blocky, shaky picture (pretty much unwatchable) every time I try to transcode a movie with ReMPEG2. I then used another computer to transcode the movie and the problem went away. The next movie I tried transcoding on the original computer had the blocky, shaky picture again, so then I tried transcoding it on the “good” computer, but the problem seems to have spread there as well. Does ReMPEG2 have any ini files stored somewhere else on the computer that might have gotten corrupted? It seems really strange that the program ran perfectly well for the first dozen movies, but all of a sudden it won’t work right at all, and I have now tried it on 3 different computers.
