Koepi - can you include a nice bitrate calculator with your package?

i only noticed the neat bitrate calc that comes with nic's binaries yesterday, and was wondering if you would consider adding something similar to your packages?

why don't u just use nic's calc??
just copy it to another directory, and when you uninstall nic's xvid version, you'll keep the calculator.

why not just copy/rename/uninstall? because that's not seamless!

...consider - both packages include the codec, notes, help, alt cc jpg...why is it a bad idea to also include a calculator, if it's not much work? or maybe even put its functionality into the vdub tab when user selects 2 pass int (i.e. auto-populate desired file size)

why not pick just any old other calc? cause i was under the impression nic's calc method was most accurate for this codec

Ummm... Bitrate calculators are all the same, no? They tell you the number of bits the codec needs every second. That is not a very difficult calculation. Plus, XviD makes it somewhat easier by using an output filesize rather than a bitrate as such - and it actually uses the target filesize rather than ignoring it.

My suggestion is that you knock together a bitrate calculator in Excel or similar, which you can customize to your own needs.

Questions like this do not help. Koepi will do as he pleases & im sure he has better things to do than write a bitrate calc (I did mine more for my version of D2A).....My Bitrate calc uses the same numbers as GKnot. So use that if you dont like mine.

Well, time to step in here.

I didn't include it yet since my package is blown up already (570 kb is really a lot if you'd see the download numbers here... mch traffic!).

Since I know that Nic loves win32 api coding I'm quite sure his calc is pretty tiny, so it wouldn't harm the package size too much.

Nic, may I include your bitrate calc as well? I don't see the necessity to code something like that myself as I always use my calculator next to my keyboard here ;)

If you agree, the next released binary could already include it.

Are you sure? :) Cant stand it really, but Its a necessary evil at times :) (hmmm now -h is on holiday, maybe I should take a look at the VFW sometime)

No I dont mean that...I just knew Koepi was quite tense at the time I saw the post...and I just thought "The last thing Koepi needs is someone else demanding from him".

They dont help, because avi gave you an answer & you replied with saying it was "not seemless" & didn't even thank avi for his suggestion. I neither liked the way you requested the addition or your tone.
