I would like to fade the end of a soundrack (mp3 92 kbps ABR, 32 kHz), then save it to the same format with no change to the unchanged part of the mp3.
Is this possible? (something like Direct Stream copy in VDub or NanDub, yet making the desired change) I have a feeling not but...
When I try in SoundForge, the mp3 is recreated from the WAV file in memory - quite different from the original.
thanx

I know there are tools that can cut an mp3 into different pieces, just cut off the end, convert to wav, add filter (or whatever its called in audio), compress to mp3, and add the end back on. then you would not have to alter the rest of the mp3, which would definately lose quality.

I'm probably lazy - hoping for a utility which could do this automatically.
thanx anyway

Thanx but...
Unfortunately the freeware version won't handle movie audiotrack size mp3s. $79.95 for the Pro version which will is a bit much ...
