I have a DiVX5.01 encoding and when played back using the 5.02 decoding filter (Not tried with 5.01 filter) and Smooth Playback is enabled in the filter properties then the video freezes at 1 single frame while the audio carries on playing. Moving backwards or forwards or pausing and unpausing the video makes no difference. The audio moves on correctly but the video stays stuck on that 1 single frames. Only reloading the video lets it play again from the beginning.

It was encoded with B frames and GMC. Using Windows XP Pro fully patched and tried in both Media Player and BSPlayer with the same results. Disabling Smooth Playback in the filter properties cures it.

I think the new decoder features are more to tweak settings for smoother playback and improved support for some video cards, so if you don't have playback problems just ignore this settings. Enabling smooth playback I experience the same issue.

Smooth playback is for less powered systems. It's a known issue that using smooth playback with B frame encoded DiVX5 can cause jerkyness (Found out on their forums). Just leave it off.

Yes, just disable "Smooth Playback". All other options should be activated though, for *really* smoother playback.

I have tried all options and found no difference in the quality of the playback. Also it didn't affect the cpu usage more than maybe +/- 2%, so I just leave them all off.
