hi all,

I'm trying to make my first DivX rip (jusr made SVCD's b4) and i have a question regarding Azid parameters:

when using Gordian Knot (I'm following Doom9's guide to DivX 5) and getting into the audio section i have to change the parameters there to doom9's custom ones, but i'm wondering if my ac3 stream is already a 2 channel stream (as with my current film) should i put in other parameters? or just leave as written in the guide "-z1 -b1 -c normal -L -3db"

thnx in advance

thnx for the answer man

i have another question:

i tried to upgrade Azid from the version installed in GKnot (1.71) to the newest (1.8) and it just went crazy and gave me distorted output :(
do you know of any settings i should change for working with this version or i shouldn't work with it?

thnx again...

GKnot only (mostly) works with the versions supplied with its installation, you can't upgrade to azid 1.8 . (and there's nothing wrong in 1.7)
btw, you can try transcoding the ac3 to mp3 externally :

@DSPGuru:

You said that the command for Azid should be "-z1 -b1 -c normal". In all of the guides it also mentions using "-L 3db" too. Is there a reason why it should no longer be used or a benefit of not using it? I was under the impression that the command line was always "-z1 -b1 -c normal -L 3db". Just curious as to whether one is better. Thanks for such a great program btw. Even better it is now in GKnot.

-L is a switch that downmix the lfe channel into the Left&Right channels.
-L is only relevant when you have a X.1 signal (eg, 5.1).
-L won't do anything for 2.0 signal.

it's always safe to use -L, it's just meanless sometimes.
