Hi guys i have a little question is this progressive or interlaced..so when using CCE to re-encode...do i choose progresive
frames under the video settings?? Funny is that I seem to get this with Amelie, Dune and The Matrix...so When teh picture structure is frame how is it that the DCT Type is then Field ????..Can someone explain this to me!!!

progressive material compresses a lot better than interlaced, but the interlaced setting on PAL dvds can be misleading.

on NTSC FILM dvds, the original structure is Progressive, and with the pulldown (required for dvd authoring) the output is progressive (Telecine).

the PAL version of The Matrix is definately not interlaced, so im guessing that the progressive setting has more to do with the pulldown setting than whether the footage is interlaced or not.

try it with progressive checked in CCE and see if you can get an avg bitrate under 4.5
