hi all
this is my first time making DivX movies so i need your help a bit...
i decided to go for the DivX 5.02 codec and followed Doom9's guide 1 by 1
when it comes to Subtitles i did exactly as told but VobSub created only 2 files instead of 3 (it didn't create the .IFO file)
i don't know if it's normal or something wrong with my configuration ?!?!
when it comes to the part in the Guide that i need to press the "Select VobSub Files" button and load the ifo file i don't know what to load because there is no IFO file
thnx in advance for any assistance....

Here's my guess.
I believe that you may be using a different release of Vobsub than the one included in the GKnot package.
"Newer" versions are known to produce less files ... and are therefore not compatible with GKnot.

you are right !!!
i updated VobSub to version 2.14 instead of 2.13 that came with the original Gordian Knot package
can i just copy the Ifo file from the movie folder or i have to reinstall Gordian Knot?
thnx for the quick reply m8 :)

Be safe, re-install; it only takes a few moments.

2.14 is fine. you don't need the ifo-file.

wef. True for Direct Vobsub. But apparently not so for "burned in" subtitles, according to:

"apparently" you should try some things yourself before you believe 'em...

Please pick one:
'Cause the search button is easier then experimenting. 'Cause I don't have an encoding going on right now, and don't want to set one up just to test this for someone else. 'Cause I'd have to install and then remove software. 'Cause I don't use "unapproved" software with Gknot. 'Cause I'm lazy. 'Cause I like to misdirect newbies. 'Cause I'm confused myself.
hi all
i just came back from my girlfriend and saw that the encoding has done.
and I'm happy to announce that VobSub 2.14 is working great and i have Perm Subs on my film.
what i did was copying the original IFO file from the film dir to the subs dir, and selected this file when i needed to....
so it works great and i believe with my first DivX movie i helped me and some of you gain some knowledge. ;)
Cheers

Also with VobSub you can just pick the idx since GKnot has to strip the extension off of the filename for the avisynth plugin of vobsub to use the files.. so if you pick the idx it will still be
VobSub("C:\path\movie") where you have movie.idx and movie.sub as your vobsub files.
