I've been using IfoEdit for a couple months now and decided to give CCE a try so I wouldn't have to split movies to two DVDs. Following the great guides available here, I have almost got a perfect backup. I'm trying to use Impression DVD Pro 2.2 to author and have run into a few problems.

First problem is that when previewing the imported assets, the video stops at 01:39:50 but the audio keeps playing. The video asset has a total time of 02:01:01. I'm wondering if there might be an issue with going over 100 minutes for the project. Shorter projects work OK.

Second problem is when playing back a 85 minute CCE/Impression project on my standalone Pioneer 434, if I chapter search towards the end of the movie, the audio and video are out of sync, but if I play the movie from beginning to end, the same scenes at the end of the movie are fine. Playback is fine in Impression and IfoEdit.

Third and final issue for now, after installing Impression I cannot use IfoEdit's DVD Play function, I get a "Program Error IfoEdit.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows". If I uninstall Impression, IfoEdit works fine. This happens on two different PCs.

I welcome any suggestions or similar experiences.

Well, if anyone's interested, I think I've found a solution to my problems. After many frustrating days and nights, I uninstalled Impression DVD Pro and installed Sonic ReelDVD Trial software. I imported the same .mpv and .ac3 files, compiled, and burned.
:D WOO HOO! perfect audio/video sync. I may be wrong, but I don't think Impression uses the ac3 timecodes mentioned throughout this forum. Oh, and now I can use IfoEdit's DVD Play feature again.
So until my 30 day trial is up, I'll be using CCE/ReelDVD nonstop to fit my DVD backups on one disc. $1,500 for the full version is kinda steep, but I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it :(

CBADude,
is ReelDVD able to handle more than one AC3 stream?
If yes, could you provide a link to that trial copy?

Thanks

I would like to get a link to the trial copy as well. I'm looking for a good replacement for my crappy authoringware.

This is taken from the web site

"Built upon the same tried-and-tested DVD formatting technology from Scenarist".

"up to three audio and subtitle tracks alongside the video presentation".

http://www.sonic.com/products/reeldvd/default.htm

The trial has some limitations, but you can create a DVD-R/RW project just fine.

Happy Authoring...
