ive looked thru the guides n software i cant see anything obviuos that i could use to add an mp3 soundtrack to my avi movie can anyone tell me wat to use?

Let me help you out. You interleave your ac3 file with the video-only avi using Nandub. You can do this via the Gordian Knot GUI ("just mux") or manually. If you're making DivX avi files -- you don't say -- Nandub is included with the GKnot tool suite.

I'm sorry. I misread your post. To interleave MP3, rather than AC3 files...

The procedure is the same. You use Nandub. It's in many of the encoding guides. For example, below is an excerpt from the DivX 5 guide. Click on the link, below, for detailed instruction.

Nandub (http://www.doom9.org/virtualdub_procedures.htm#mp3mux) can handle both CBR and VBR (ABR is a kind of VBR) audio and is therefore best suited for the task.
