Please help - interlaced dvd

Whenever I try to rip a dvd who is interlaced, I experience that the sound gets async and the file size is far too small. Does anyone know how to avoid this problem?

I use Gordian Knot, and choose the 'Fast Deinterlacing' option when saving the .avs.

My guess is you're doing an IVTC, most likely with Force FILM option in dvd2avi. Turn it off. Interlaced, NTSC video camera sources are not telecined, and should therefore not be inverse telecined.
