I got a big mp3 file (album) and wonders if theres any prog that can analyze the file and cut it where the music stops or if you gotta listen to the file and cut manually and then what prog is best for cutting? I´m thinking of using headchepre to make the mp3 to wavs but is there any better way that keeps as much of the quality as possible. In the end its gonna be a music CD and thats whyt I need to cutit so I can switch betwen the diferent songs. Hoping for an fast and good answer.

BeSplit (http://besweet.notrace.dk) cuts audio streams without decoding-reencoding (thus, preserving the original sound quality).

btw - read the Audio FAQs.

Yes I had read the audio guide and thnx for the reply but my biggest question that couldnt be answerd neither in the audio fax nor the forums was if any prog out there can analyze and cut the file where it has zero samples (and the song change). I can cut it and know how to do it manually and will use besplit but where hoping for an automated way because many new albums are sent this way acros internet these days.

Those nasty full album mp3s I believe have continual samples and no real spot where they "break", since the audio ripper would probably merge the two tracks in the mp3 without pause.

The deluxe version of Easy CD Creator (I know it sucks as a burner) has a program in it that will do that very thing. It allows you to set how sensative it is to dead spots to cut apart the songs. I have used it pretty successfully.

The BeSplit GUI (WBIAS) will allow you to listen to an MP3 and select "split" points (ie. tracks in your case). However, it will write them out as the same format as the input files (ie. MP3, not WAV).

The good news is that most CD authoring packages automatically convert from MP3 to WAV automatically. It your program doesn't - Nero is a tool definately worth evaluating.

I got nero and didnt wanna listen to the file just cut it and it worked fine at the way i did it. Was a bit disapointing that theres no prog that can search for zero bytes and cut automaticlly because I´m sure I´m gonna find another one of these bigass files. but thnx next time I might use WBIAS.

Hi hulkenstrong,

The problem with searching for 0 bytes (ie. silent points between songs) is that songs are not always that simple. They don't always contain pauses between songs and sometimes they have pauses in the middle of songs.

In testing WBIAS, I tried about 30 albums of my own - and each one of them worked well. It takes about 5 minutes per album (to define the splits and do the cutting), depending on the number of tracks you have and how well you know the album.

If I find a completely automated tool, I'll let you know.
Cheers
