Region 5 DVD with no encryption

I live in region 5 and find that when using smart ripper all of my DVDs show no CSS key (unencrypted). They all are region locked though. I do not think they are silvers as they come with extras and are bigger that 4.7 GB. Other region disks show that they have CSS. Can anyone shed some light on this? Rather courious. Thanks.

Well, that depends on the publisher of the DVD.
If he is willing to pay the license fee to the CSS consortium...
Since it's meaningless to encrypt a DVD, more and more publisher decides to spare the license fees and don't encrypt their DVDs anymore. Even here in germany (Region 2) more and more DVDs are'nt encrypted anymore.

they may figured out that whatever they put on the DVD is usesless, so why paying for useless stuff...
