Anyone noticed if these seem to occur more easily in intense action sequences, than with DivX3.11a/DivX4?

First noticed in The Mummy Returns, opening sequence when the armies collide - hand-to-hand combat filmed up real close.

lack of bitrate. probably a poor encoding. I've noticed that divx 501 handles blockiness much better than 311 and 4.

Yeah could be. With DivX5 I'm running with much lower 1st Pass %s than I ever could with 3.11a.

In general I'm inclined to agree with you.

Does blockiness = macroblocks
or the compression artifacts one gets on large uniformly coloured areas like sky and walls?
