Is there any other way to downsample the VOBs then to use Rempg/TMPG? So far, I have tryed them each once or twice and everytime I let it run over night to downsmaple they always crash or have an error. :( Is there another app that I can use for this? or is there a way to make the Vobs fit on a DVDr without downsampling? :sly:

Thankz..

You don't have to reencode every time. Sometimes the movie is smaller than the limit of the single layer DVD-R(W). Get rid of any additional audio and subtitiles tracks and extras-follow doom9's guide on that.
And you can always try to use CCE to reencode your movie.
Many of the problems are because of the overclocked comp. Also - read the CCE and IfoEdit forums to learn more about that topic.

take care

Thankz! I shall try CCE then... Yes, I know about IfoEdit and have already edited what I could (Subs, extra audio) but yet it never really seems to go down by much.. The DVD when I ripped it with DVDDecrypter3 the whole thing was around 6.5 to 6.6 gigs. Once I use IfoEdit it brings it down to about 6.2 or so.. (which still isnt small enough) Maybe theres something am doing wrong or maybe it just needs to be re-encode...

I am new to this as well and someone gave me this answer on another forum which allowed me to rip a 7.7gb DVD to a 4.36GB file with all menus and no re-encode at all
so here it is:

Use smartripper to rip the DVD and instead of ripping the DVD as
normal hit the stream TAB and click the enable stream processing box.

Now just select the files you want to include
I just selected the video and one audio file and disabled all the
other stuff like subtitles etc.

When the rip finished (only 45mins!) i had a 4.36gb file. I tested
the content would work if burned to a DVD using the IFOEdit DVD player and it had all menus and extras as well as the fully working film. (I don't have my writer yet so i can't absolutely guarantee it until thursday (when my Pioneer 104 arrives. :)

Hope this helps (fingers crossed for the transition to DVD).
