Hi,

For some reasons, I need to use flaskmpeg to convert mpeg2 file to avi file which is editable in Premiere 6.0.

Can you tell me the settings in flaskmpeg so that there is no loss in quality in the mpeg2-avi conversion?

Moreover, I try flaskmpeg yesterday. It seems that it accept to import mpg. file but one m2v file. Is it true?

Besides flaskmpeg, what are the other softwares which convert mpeg2 file to avi at the best quality?

Regards,

1. What codec do u want to use for the avi? (divx3.11/divx5.0.1/Xvid/...)
2. Normally Flask should be able to convert mpeg and or mpeg2 files (m2v should be a mmpeg2 videostream only).
3. alternatives are: mpeg2avi, DVD2AVI,.. (all tools that to dvd to avi an accept single files)

Hi Selur,

Thanks for your reply.

I want to convert some mpeg2 files to avi and edit in Preimere. After that, I shall encode the avi to mpeg2 again.

For those softwares you mentioned, which one produce the best quality avi files?

They all should produce the same settings as long as u don't use any filters, while encoding. since u want to reencode later u should use something like minimum Quantizer = maximum Quantizer = 2 (file will get large but u won't lose much quality).
Isn't there a way to do the modifications u want to do directly with the mpeg 2 file, I mean reencodeing always kind of sucks ;)

You are right. If I could find something which allow me to edit the mpeg2 file, I don't need to reencode. Thanks.
