Making movie first play with Maestro?

I have just followed Doom9's guide but I don't want any menus.
I want the dvd to play the film auto when put in to the dvd player,
Copyed the guide until the menus but when it compiles the vob files it says no fist play item.

look towards the top left of the maestro screen - you will see the tree diagram of your project. Right-click on the top of the tree, and select "connections". Now look to the top of the connections window and find "first play" right click in the blank area next to this item and select the name of the asset you wish to play as a firstplay.

Think that's it - haven't touched Maestro for a couple of months now!

TO be honest, quite apart from work pressures at present, even when I DO get a few mins on the comp, I spend it on the net, rather than authoring, cos I've basically just given up hope of getting a decent job out of my pathetic PII 366mhz (~only~ 6.4 gig!!!!) laptop - it's just too frutrating in terms of encoding time, and in terms of not nearly enough HDD space for a worthwhile project. I don't think I'll be authoring for about 6months at this rate - not until I can afford a decent desktop PC.

Ahh well, I'm sure it will EVENTUALLY be worth the wait - I must admit I do miss the creative fun of using Maestro cos it's such a pleasure to use...

your almost in the same boat as me, im too flat out at work that i dont have much time (or energy) to do anything serious at home, biggest thing i did was fix up my website: hxxp://sportschook.n3.net/ but with all this karaoke making im doing at work (hasnt got to the authoring stage yet, still putting the words together) i might get rusty of Virtuoso (which i use at work) when it comes to burning these karaoke dvds.

Enf...

if only i knew the solution to the 16:9 animorphic problem in Virtuoso 2.5 (as posted on spruceuserforums).
