View Full Version : Best motherboard for 1800 xp +

Hi everyone,
I had a AMD 800 Classic (slot 1) and it was too slow for CCE. Now I am going to upgrade to AMD 1800 + with DDR. I want to have you suggestions on which M/B to use for it. Which is the best M/B for this purpose. If as everyone says VIA is a trouble then isnt it good to use a AMD 761 chipset board(like Abit KG7 -Raid) OR else. Please have you say.

Now there are 333 boards, but pretty much everything said there is the same. There doesn't seem to be a bad choice it's just luck.
I have not seen people with Epox or Soltek reporting problems here.

Like markrb said its all a matter of luck, they say 15% of motherboard are bad right off the line so either way you look at it thats a high percentage. I myself always stick in the middle range when i buy computer parts because of price verses performance ratio seems to be the sweet spot for me.

I've got a 1900+ on a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP board..... it's a KT333 chipset.... it's pretty fast.... it has onboard U133 Raid too. Running a pair of 60Gig disks in Raid 0 is the only way to go. :-)

Markrb linked you to a thread I started. I ended up getting the Soyo Dragon Plus. Its a very nice motherboard but until recently I was still haveing some CCE issuses. If I were to do it again I think I would have gotton the 8kha+ I have yet to see a post with anyone haveing checksum CCE errors with the 8kha+.

PS If you do end up getting the Soyo I have found that setting the bios to fail safe settings has resolved the CCE checksum errors w/out the use of CCE checksum patch ;)

The 8kha+ is made by epox.

like markrd has said in his original post he hasn't seen anyone reporting problems with epox m/b's.
