Newbie question

just searched the forums but cant find an answer to my question:

what is this all about the delay of ac3 files? why do they have a delay? can i set the values so, that eventually a desync of my movies is repaired?

maybe u got a link or something where i can an answer

just found this:

Yes. The delay you see is set by the DVD author, and comes from the .ifo data. It may be positive or negative, and is used by GKnot when muxing sound and video as the final step of a standard GKnot job. (For more information on .vob and .ifo structure, see the "DVD Basics" section of www.doom9.org.)

why does the author makes this delay on the dvd?
