I am trying to rip my Cowboy Bebop DVDs to Divx 4 and every episode up to the last one on the first disk worked fine. When I encode the fifth session (episode) the video processing step only takes a few seconds and the end product has sound but the video is only about a tenth of a second long. The video is NTSC and with film at around 80% so I had to set Feild Operation to None in DVD2AVI and on the Save & Encode menu in GKnot I have to select Inverse Telecline. In the directory where I have the VOB files ripped, there is an MP3 that was created from the audio processing step that sounds just fine in WinAmp and is full length. Also, when I click preview in the Save & Encode window, after that first good tenth of a second of video, the video goes black and in red text at the top of the video it says "Avisynth: caught an acces violation at 0x00b670d7, attempting to read from 0x00000000".

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Hi-

Well, obviously your .avs script is screwy. If I had to guess without actually seeing it, I'd say that your Pixel Crop Left plus the Pixel Crop Right is not divisible by 4. But I think you'd better post the thing here, or compare it with the ones that worked and see how it is different from the others (pay special attention to the Crop). I don't know if that IVTC requires even numbers for the top and bottom Pixel Crops, but I don't think so.

Well, the Pixel Crop Left and Right are both at 8, so that isn't the problem... I think... here is the .avs script... I think... well it ends in .avs and I can open it in Notepad.

Hi-

Well, you're right-nothing wrong with the crop (by the way-I guess you decided to leave the black bars on at the top of the opening song part).

Did you change paths anywhere along the line or change a misspelling or something like that? Even if you fix the other lines, you have to go into the .d2v and fix that also.

Have you tried to open the .avs in Nandub directly (File-Open video file) and see what's the error message it gives you? It may give you some more information.

And as a last resort, you can reinstall GKnot and try again from scratch. Sorry-grasping at straws here. The .avs looks fine.

Why the trim command-you cutting a couple of seconds of black at the end of the episode? Speaking of which-Ballad of Fallen Angels is Episode 5 of the 1st Session.

And next time you post an .avs, you can cut out all the lines with # at the beginning.

Damn-thought I had it for sure-sorry-not much help.  Anyone else want to give it a try?

Okay... this is certainly fun...

No.

Didn't notice them, thanks for pointing that out.

Have you tried to open the .avs in Nandub directly (File-Open video file) and see what's the error message it gives you?
Dub Error (will attempt to finalize)
Avisynth read error:
Avisynth: caught an access violation at 0x015c70d7, attempting to read from 0x00000000

you can reinstall GKnot and try again from scratch.
I'll try that right now. I'm just reinstalling GKnot, nothing else that comes in the package.
Okay, it isn't in the Add/Remove Programs menu... I'll just run the installer again after removing as much of it as possible.

Okay, after reinstalling GKnot and using the same .d2v files, the same problem happens. If I go all the way back to ripping from the DVD again, DVD2AVI asks me what video compressor I want to use. I really don't feel like figguring out what's wrong now, I think soon I will try another ripping method.

Why the trim command
Yeah, the last couple of frames of black, actually... I dunno why I thought it matters, really. I would set the credits for the start of the credits, but I want the teaser for the next episode to be good quality.

Ballad of Fallen Angels is Episode 5 of the 1st Session.
Yep. The series called its episodes sessions, just like they called their DVD volumes sessions. So Session 5 on the Session 1 DVD.

Hi-

If you're going to reinstall, reinstall the whole rippack.

DVD2AVI asks me what video compressor I want to use.

When you Save Project (not Save AVI)? Something's wrong-another reason to reinstall the whole rippack.

One good thing about GKnot, if you want to lower the quality of the end credits, but still keep the quality of the following preview, it's easily done. But I guess you'll never know...

Okay... I was hitting Save AVI... anyway, I have installed GKnot 0.25 and tried encoding to DivX 5 (I installed Pro 5.02 and turned off the Adware like in the tutorial) but it still does the same thing. When I choose the other Field Operations from the Save & Encode menu and hit Preview there isn't a problem. I think I'll see what happens when I choose the other Field Operations from the Save & Encode menu, since it won't waste any of my time when I'm in school tomorrow and I'm not exactly sure what they are supposed to do. All I know is I'm supposed to hit IVTC when FILM is <95%...

Hi-

You came back. I see you loaded the Decomb.dll (and I hope your .d2v is 30fps (No Field Operation)). But ordinarily, unless you have a good reason for keeping it at 29.97fps and just deinterlacing, instead of uncommenting (removing the #) the FieldDeinterlace line, you should leave the # there, and remove them from Telecide() and Decimate(cycle=5). That will perform the IVTC and bring the frame rate down to 23.976fps.

Also, unless I'm mistaken, you're going to have a problem with that crop. I think you cropped 10 on the left and 8 on the right. Added together, that's 18, and it should be divisible by 4 when using Decomb. So make it 11,9 or 9,7 or 10,10 or something like that.
