analyzing video..............??

I just installed DVD2SVCD ver 1.09 build 1 and loaded my first DVD into it. when I click the disc to load the DVD or browse to the largest ifo file dvd2svcd just sits there saying "analyzing video, please wait.." and just sits and sits. how long is this supposed to take??? I have tried with more then one dvd and it does the same thing. I have tried installing another version of dvd2svcd and same thing. CCE could encode an avi in the time its taking to "analyze" my DVD. is this normal??? or what else am I supposed to do???


my computer is p3 733 with 640M ram and running winXP

sorry about the newbian attempts at an answer. but, got any other ideas??? I already had aspi layer but installed again anyways because you say so, I reinstalled forceaspi and also installed the adaptec aspi and neither made any kind of difference. I left dvd2svcd going all night while I was asleep, and it still said analyzing video when I got up. no other errors like authen failed, just sits there. not sure what to do except ask questions.

Hi there,

have you already tried to authenticate this DVD by using a software player? - Please try it and also skip through the chapters of the whole movie just to be sure each VOB file gets authenticated then close the player and start DVD2SVCD and make sure not to eject the DVD anymore - because then you will have to authenticate it again.

what do you mean??? just play it with a software player??? should I just try to skip thru the chapters and then close the software player, and then try to run DVD2SVCD??

A software player self authenticates by simply playing the dvd. This will help at times. Try this before running dvd2svcd.

Run SmartRipper(just start it with a DVD in the drive) and see if it goes into Aspi mode or Win mode. If it goes into Win mode it could be that you still have an aspi issue.

I usually start playing the movie in WinDVD and then pause the movie. After it has started to rip the movie I close WinDVD.

Yeah like markrb i always run powerdvd then pause it before i start a ripp.

you guys kick ass. fired up powerDVD and then checked out a few scenes, then fired up dvd2svcd and aaaahhhhh yeah, let the ripping begin.


sorry if my question seemed newbian but I could not find the answer anywheres and I know there is no way I am getting such unique probs that no one heard of.
