AVI to VCD or SVCD

I have downloaded some .avi files from Kazza and the resolution is 352x240 I think
I have tried using avi2svcd but it crashes as it cant convert the audio.
Is there a way to convert these files so I can play in a DVD although the quality will be poor I know.
If I try to open in Tmpgenc it says unsupported format.

I did not know which forum to post this on so thought I would try here first.
If anyone can help me by deciphering my ramblings I would appreciate it.

Ok I have cracked it.
I downloaded a mp43 decompressor patch patch and now I can convert to svcd using TMPGEnc
Have just converted 1st disc of one of my films and resized and adjusted frame rate.
Result was a perfectly watchable movie
