Splitting a DVD -9(.4.7 GB) to 2 DVD-Rs

I have a set of the Sopranos 4 disks in all.Each disk has 4 episodes.
I stripped one of the disks :showed single title 8 vob's , over 7 GB.Opening IFOEDIT with vts_01_0.ifo, I get 4 different progran chains
each bearing this time a separate title 1,2,3,4( NB.The stripped disk showed only title 1).
When trying to split under VOB EXTRAS into 2 DVD -r, all the original large VOB's go to disk 1, while the rest ifo and bup files go to disk 2!?!The splitting default point is shown at the last cell of the first program chain,.i.e. title 1.
What to do? Please help.Thanks
PS. I found the answer : use delete playback on chapters not wanted which leaves the other chapters large enough to fit on one 4.7 g disk. Reverse the order of deletion, then you get the other chapters large enough to fit on the second 4.7 disk.USE : COPY A DVD-9(>4.38 GB) to DVD-R KEEPING THE ORIGINAL MENU(DERROW'S GUIDE)

Can you add some additional information to this post. I have one of the Sopranos DVD's and would like to put it on a dual sided DVDR. So far all attempts to 'split on 2 dvd's' gives me a 6gb 1st disk. I even tried 'deleting playback' on the third and fourth episode and still got disks too large.

Please run through all the steps for doing one of these. I plan to get the whole set at some point.

Hi Roveer,

The only thing I can add to my suggestion above is to try and delete playback of more chapters to fit on am 4.7 G. It worked with me. I have no experience in double sided disks. Good luck!

Can you provide info on how you did the 'delete playback'. Which IFO did you have open? The VIDEO_TS, or the VTS_01.IFO, and what section were you in to perform the operation? Like I said, I tried this but still got the 1st disk that was way too big so I must be doing something wrong.

Hi,

Since I do not have the original, thefollowing is from memory:

1.Open with vts-o1.ifo
2.Scroll down to title list - you will identify under the same title, i.e. title one, several PGC using each its own vob id.
3.Go to each PGC and work out according to the number of frames or time which of them will fit to your disk.Then press undelete playback and proceed according to Derrow.
4.Do the same procedure by openignagain with vts_01.ifo and this time reverse the undeleting of the PGC.
I may not sound coherent, but that is all I can remember. Good luck.
