Please Help ,Running xp home edition on 20 GB HD .Have Pioneer A104 DVD r/rw and Toshiba DVD rom SD-M1612.HD formatted to FAT 32 System.
Using Smartripper Or DVD Decrypter to Rip DVD movies to VIDEO_TS folder then IfoEdit to get rid of crap (subtitles,Languages etc).Used Nero 5.5.8.0 To Burn folder to disc using instructions from this forum ie iso/udf joliet
off and the results are disappointing.Power DVD will only play movie by opening the media files burnt to a RW or DVD-R.My x-wave stand alone will not see disc or just keep searching.I am at my wits end now and have 3 wasted DVD-R's.I have followed instuctions to the letter on all programs especially IfoEdit and still no joy. I can't even get the dvdPlay to work in Ifo as it says cant play compressed data format and when i press create image it keeps telling me i must put all ifo's bups etc int a video-ts folder which i have done ??????
My DVD writer came with Instant CD/DVD v6.0 and i have also tried Record Now Max - Gear Pro DVD 6 with no joy either. The only thing i can think of is that i need to be placing a start track to my burning DVD in the ifo setup somewhere Like the Prohibited message at the beginning of every DVD ? I have also Just learned that i should get rid of FAT32 as it doesn't recognise files bigger than 4GB which prevents me from using DVD Decrypter to burn a Complete iso image of the whole movie. If this is so how much room is taken off your HD using NTFS or whatever it is called ? I would like to try Prassi Primo but don't know where to get it from ? Thanks in advance for any help!

I cannot help you with your problem, but I can tell you that you should try looking for Prassi Primo at www.pricegrabber.com
I will move this post to the IfoEdit forum since there are people with better knowledge on this than I...

take care

Hi!

there are 3 things that could force the problem:
Have you forgotten to correct VTS Sectors with ifo edit?
Nero sucks Record now must do the job, because it is like Prassi,
and the important thing what kind of media have you used?

Thanks for the Email Streetcleaner.
Since my post i have successfully made a backup of
my RED PLANET DVD. The Media I was using was PRINCO but
they are crap. Will have to find some better brands to use such as
FWS and Datasafe etc .The programs i use are DVD DECRYPTER ,
Ifo-Edit 0.91 and Nero 5.5.8.2 . i also use Record Now Max
and The Latest version Of INSTANT CD/DVD 6.4.1:D

By the way, I don't think you need to use the NT File System in order to burn an image, but you do have to locate the image in the root of the drive you're burning to. For example, when you select burn image in ifoEdit, choose X:\ (where X is the letter of your drive).

Also, this may be more info than you were hoping for, but I have heard that as you may gain a little space with NTFS, you may sacrifice speed.

Hope this helps.

<EDIT>
Sorry, but I think I was mistaken about this. A friend tried it and reported to me that it really doesn't work :-(

I have since switched over to the NTFS on one of my larger partitions, and I didn't notice any real decrease in speed. But now, I can create m2v files from CCE larger than 4 GB!

I also had Instant CD/DVD Ver6 with my DVD-rw. Taking advise from the Derrow Ripping Guides I went to the update site and got the latest update version from December 2001. It now works like a treat and I use this for all my Burning with no problems. It takes about an hour to download on a 56K modem but it is well worth it !!!

Hope this helps.

I have tested media (no play the movie):

TDK DVD-RW
OPTIDISC DVD-RW

APPLE DVD-R

Please give me your solution (Starbuck) ;-)

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would guess you did something wrong. Apple Medias are absolutly working on all players i know even on my 4 years old panasonic a 350. I think you have forgotten to correct the vts sectors or must have something wrong about the burning options. Look at Derrows site there are the options.

Thanks Streetcleaner for your answer.

I Have used 'Get VTS Sectors' on all IFO files, right before burning it to DVD-R.

For burning i use this tools with Prassi Primo.

It's strange because my copy works on my PC !!!!!!

All others solutions are welcome.

thanks again.
