13 frames lost every single time

Hi, I use to capture a series from TV and have Athlon 1200mhz, Asus 8200v Geforce3 deluxe 64MB, 512 MB DDR RAM, Asus A7M266DDR motherboard, DVD-RW, DVD slotin, IBM GXP75 hardrive 61 GB and 4 different partitions 8GB,40GB,5GB,5GB, 8 GB is operating system 40 is where i grab the movie, when I grab the movie I shut down all other programs and I still lose the frames approximately with 2-4 min delays, then another thing, the grabbed avi file is jagged with 1 second delays the whole 2GB clips, I grab with res. 352x288 24bit RGB, hyffyv, and virtualdub 1.4.9, image format YUVY, has anybody else the same problem.

hi,
i had the same problem ( i think so).
so what happend to me was, when capturing a video, it just captured at 16.something frames, no matter what i enter in the preferences.
First everything was ok, but suddenly this strange error occured. And as suddenly as it came, it dissappeared, but came back some time later.
anyone knows anything bout this ?
is it a vdub bug?

Have you tried using YUY2. Also turn your dipsplay down to 16 bit colour, that should give you a speed boost.

You don't say what card you capture with. If you can, have a go with some different drivers.

(These are WDM - make sure your card is supported)

Play around with your settings. I too had a problem similar to yours in that VDUB only captured at 15 fps. Notsure how I fixed it in the end, but I switched to WDM drivers and Virtual VCR an dall is fine now. I capture at 768x576 on my 700 mhz athlon with no dropped frames at all.

Hi again, thanks for the advice Ivan, I use Asus V8200 Geforce 3 AGP card with video in/out(64 MB internal memory), I tested to choose YUY2 but virtualdub says, "this format is not supported", is it my card that is'nt good enough, though I paid almost 500 (dollars) for it :confused: it's very irritating to have spent so much money and get very bad results :angry: do I have to buy a TV/Video card? or must I install a YUY2 driver? I will check out the digtv link you suggested too, thanks for your help :rolleyes:

I'm not familiar with your video card so I can't give you any specific help with that I'm afraid :(

Don't use that digtv crap, it doesn't support anything advanced as vdub (vdub_sync) does (how could it if it just setups a filtergraph and renders it. not even segmented avis are supported). And vdub copes very, very well on my system with wdm.

My VDUB - well I used VDUB for a while, but I just had better results with Virtual VCR as I found it used less CPU and I could capture at higher resolution (768x576) in MJPEG at quality 18. On my Athlon 700 thats pretty good. :)
