batch convert avi's to bin and cue

apologies if i'm going over old ground here, but i searched and couldn't find any answers.....

is it possible to convert multiple avi files (different films) to separate bin and cue files using d2s.
i've read about batch conversion from dvd, but nothing about avi files.

any help would be appreciated.

Hi lazy_dave,

this is not possible by default but you can do this if you prepare it manually before.

Here's the procedure:

1. Set your default output folder in "Misc." tab (e.g "D:\Rip\Avi1")
2. Do your preferred settings and start the AVI conversion
3. After the process started close DVD2SVCD
4. Start DVD2SVCD again and follow the above steps but use a new default output folder for each AVI (e.g. "D:\Rip\Avi2") now
5. After you have done this for all the AVIs you want to batch-convert then edit the "dvd2svcd batch.bat" file by choosing the appropriate menu entry from the DVD2SVCD program menu.
6. Now edit it like this:

@REM DVD2SVCD Batch Control
"D:\Programme\DVD2SVCD\DVD2SVCD.exe" -d2s:"D:\Rip\Avi1\dvd2svcd project file.d2s" -run -exit
"D:\Programme\DVD2SVCD\DVD2SVCD.exe" -d2s:"G:\Rip\Avi2\dvd2svcd project file.d2s" -run -exit

Be aware that this is an example and you have to adjust it to match your specific pathes.

7. Save the changes and start the batch process

Be aware: the resizing with some AVIs (DivX) is not correct (yet) with DVD2SVCD so you have to manually edit the AviSynth script - but this is not possible during batch conversion. So there will be no advantage with this procedure but it should be ok for some DV AVI batch conversion.

i started and stopped d2s four times with all setting for the 4 avi files i want to convert.

when i run the batch file d2s starts, as if it's going to convert the first avi file. however, rather than extracting the audio, like what usually happens, d2s runs dvd2avi?!

d2s hangs at this point of the conversion process - with 'analyzing dvd2avi project file' as the last line in the d2s window (this doesn't appear in the log file) and goes no further.

i left it running all last night and this morning d2s is at exactly the same point.

any idea how to get d2s to run normally and start the conversion from the audio extraction point?

you can throw all you .avi files into vegas video 3.0 and then render as one huge .avi file..voila.

Hello lazy_dave,

what happens if you try to convert only a single file of your AVIs? - Is DVD2AVI run also? - It shouldn't run at all with a AVI so that is really the problem in here. During my testings with this procedure it never ran a single moment. So I really don't know why it starts on your PC.

So please try a single conversion of the first AVI and see what happens to sort out this error.

thanks guys, although through a fluke i've sussed it out.

before, i was starting the conversion process and then closing d2s straight away - if d2s didn't close, i stopped it using the task manager. that's when i was getting the problem above.

when creating the separate 'dvd2svcd project file.d2s' files you have to let dvd2svcd complete the audio extraction before you close the program. then when you run d2s again from the batch file everything works as it should - the process re-starts at the audio converstion stage and runs right through to the end.

thanks for reporting back. I did test this procedure with only a few little DivX clips so I was just on the lucky side with it as the audio extraction step was already finished with these short clips when my "old slowhand" managed to close DVD2SVCD by hitting the little "X" button. :D

I have managed to run without batch files loads of times so I know that it is not the proggy itself that is causing the problem.

Any ideas?
