When you select Telecine deinterlace does that mean it is doing an 'Inverse telecine' or is that the opposite? or the same thing?

I think that Telecine deinterlace is about PAL movies that are interlaced. I've heard that Australian movies (sometime) are that.
The filter acts on telecined progressive source and attempts to recreate progressive frames.
Probably the different names are for the same thing. The process of reversing Telecide is sometimes called "Inverse Telecide" and sometime only Telecide. When you are creating MPEG movies it is only usable to recreate a movie with progressive frames.

Film interlacing is called telecine.
The way to remove the interlace thing is called inversed telecine.
One filter for VirtualDUB that does this is named Telecide.
Telecide is a filter name.
Telecine is a technology.

Thanks for the link I'll take a read. So when I load my interlaced AVI into TMPG and load the VCD template, will it automatically de-interlace it or do I need to select the de-interlace option?
