I am trying to convert a 3 parted (S)VCD telecine source (new spiderman movie) into DivX5.01; but I always get a crap output! Tried all divx-deinterlace and all xmpeg-deinterlace options, of course there was difference, best worked with divx all frames are interlaced, but still way worse quality than source!
source is 480x576, input 4:3, output 1:1 divx. I had to use VCDGear to make the AVSEQ0x.MPG's readible, but it still won't work with VirtualDub! It says pack synch error, when using fault tolerance virtualdub just quits! Also tried DVD2AVI, it gave me a pic with weird aspect ratio, didnt find any option to change this... somebody please help! My goal is ONE divx5.01 file (won't work with Xmpeg in one step because of its import filter limitation:can't opn more then one mpeg-file!) with 2-pass and same quality as source!
thanks alot, need your help! :)

SVCD's can't be read directly by VirtualDub, you'll need to frame-serve it in with something like AVISynth. See Doom9's guides to converting SVCD/DVD to Divx for more info. Graft's SmartDeinterlace filter plug-in for VDub has given me excellent results since I started using it, you may get good results with it also.
