Help! I can´t locate the beginning of the gray areas in the 2nd pass

Hi folks,
I´ve read the guide from doom9 about "Getting the best out of CCE".
My problem is, that I can´t see in the 2nd pass where my problematic gray areas are in my film.
I can´t locate these areas and so I can´t "improve" them.
Could somebody please tell me how I can find them to improve my picture quality?

Maybe you don't have any gray areas?

Chances are, you have no gray areas at all. It's not uncommmon. I just watch the filesize and increase my global bitrate settings anyway until it reaches the filesize limit I don't want to go over.

I have lowered the bitrate so much so that I MUST have the lines.
But I found the robshot guide and now it´s clear.
I must try to get a quality factor that´s below 9 and everything is ok...I hope...
On the other side I wanna see these lines, but I can´t.
Ok, let´s say it so:
I can see vertical little gray lines in the pic, but they are in constant spaces all over the film (!?), even if I put the overall bitrate at a very high high level....

If you still have a gray area, even after increasing the bitrate very high like you said, it usually means the max bitrate is already being used for that section. It doesn't necessarily mean the resulting video will come out looking like crap though. Many times, stubborn areas like this only last for a second or two at the most and you'll probably never notice it. The few I've had that happen on, I stepped through frame by frame only to find that it was very quick action for a second or two and only the background seemed to suffer for it and even then, not by much. The main object or person in the frame looked fine and during playback, nothing was noticeable at all. I wouldn't worry about it if you just have very few of them.
