Hello everyone,

I have tried to rip a few DVD's to SVCD with the use of DVD2SVCD and must say it works perfectly.

But since I tried to include subtitles separately on the SVCD with the option "SVCD Subtitles" which says: "True SVCD subtitle as specified by Philips" I've got some problems.

I have a Philips DVD 756 with firmware 7.22 and I downloaded the testdisc from vcdhelper.com to test it with my player. It seems that my player support the subs from this test dics perfectly.

But when I use DVD2SVCD to make a SVCD with Philips subs it shows 2 or 3 subtitles before the player hangs. It will not react to any keypress either on the remote or on the player. I have to turn it off and back on by unplugging the mains to reset it.

As DVD2SVCD uses version 0.1.0.1 of WinSubMux I downloaded version 0.2.0.1. and installed it over the older version. But this doesn't help at all.

Is there anyone with an idea what could be wrong ? Or does it simply not work (yet) ?

Thnx for any helpfull reply !

P.S. Does DVD2SVCD take in account the subs with respect to the maximum bitrate allowed ?

It simply doesn't work (yet). I had similar symptoms with my DVD 622 before I ugraded the firmware (2.9.6->4.15o-0). The subtitles don't work well enough even now, but the player doesn't make complete freezes anymore.
