Update my ASPI Layer

Does anyone know where I can get an updated ASPI layer from ?

I can see upgrades on the Adaptec site but not the base software. I am using an HP external USB CD Writer. I can't see any updates for this on the HP site. I can't see it on any of the Adaptec disks I have left from an earlier piece of kit. I can't find any references in these threads...

To use the program under Win95/98 there should be an ASPI manager
installed on the system. The ASPI layer that ships with Win9x/ME
is an old implementation from Adaptec and only works with SCSI drives
(There´s a possibility to make it work with IDE drives, but I would not
recommend doing that!) If you´ve got an IDE recorder connected to your
Win95/98-System you should try to upgrade to a newer ASPI manager from
Tekram´s website

which supports IDE drives!
When using this program under WindowsNT it should always
work with either SCSI- or IDE-drives even if there´s no ASPI manager
installed. If it´s not working install an ASPI layer!:)

That being said, you should probably post such things in a more appropriate group in the future like the "General topic" forum or the "PC Hardware forum" where general PC questions are answered. Not trying to be a hard-ass here. It's just that this particular forum is for DVD encoding and authoring.

many ppl found the 4.70 version of aspi not working very well, and causing problems (at least on win XP-Pro).

i suggest using v4.60 which is supplied with the (unofficial!!) force aspi distrib.

search the web for for 'FRCASP17.ZIP'
