View Full Version : asynch question
Hi,
I have ripped a two-hour movie from DVD as three separate AVI files (DivX5, MPEG-3 audio; three files because of low hard disk space!)). Individually, audio and video synch perfectly in the three files.
Jowever, when I join any two of the files together in either VirtualDub or NanDub (Append AVI), the latter part of the new files has a synch problem.
My question is, is there a way of joining these files without getting this problem, or will I have to join the files, then manually resynch them, as described in the guides on synching problems?
Thanks for your help.
Do you still have the original ac3? Then convert this to just one .mp3, append the video-segments in Nandub and apply this .mp3.
Thanks for your reply. Should I extract an ac3 file from each of the avi files, join the three ac3 files and convert to an mp3, then apply that, or would I have a better chance of success if I extracted the single ac3 file from the DVD, converted that to mp3and then added it to the combined avi files?

You'd better extract one file from DVD and convert it to mp3 and then join with the appended video segments.
That should work like charm!

Thanks, I was just looking for an appropriate tool for that; would BeStrip be suitable? As I can't fit all of the VOB files on my hard drive, it would have to be something that would work directly from the DVD.

Hmmm. Never tried BeStrip - but it should work flawlessly. You can also use BeSweet since it has a function of direct ac3 (from DVD) to mp3 encoding. And you can always try SmartRipper and StreamProcessing and then BeSweet or HeadAc3he.

yes, BeStrip is probably the best solution.
usage is easy :
- pick the vob/ifo files on "1 Input" form
- check demux on "3 output" form, check "mp3 output" and set output filename. (i would also suggest to enable the logfile option)
- "3 output" form - check "substreams" and select the desired one, probably, 0x80.
hit the run button !
BeStrip is a special edition of vStrip_gui that uses BeSweet.dll.

@alex
may i suggest that you give BeStrip a try.. :) ?

Hmmmm...To be honest I've tried to download it yesterday, but the link on your web page is not working - I get an error of: Invalid thread specified
I guess I will have to use coffercufs' one step solution on how to use the search button to find it :D
take care
p.s.
Yeahhh..I have found it...Will try it later, when I'm back at home...
