two HD - fast and slow

I have 2 HD. The first is 40Gb 7200 IBM and the second is old 2Gb Segate I do not know speed. As for information I learned at doom forum one HD should be for capture and second for system. My question is if I should install system (windows XP) at slow 2Gb drive and capture at 40Gb fast drive or system and capture should be at one fast 40Gb drive divided for 2 logical partition.

You will have a hard time fitting XP on 2 GB. Xp itself takes approximetly 1 GB, add to that your programs and the swapfiles and you're most likely over 2 GB unless you don't really install any extra programs.

I wouldn't even mess with the 2 gb drive. If you put the operating system on it (if it will fit) and it is a slow drive, you will be slowing down your whole system. The swap file will be painfully slow, affecting everything else. If you want to keep your data and system seperate, simply partition the 40gb drive for now and save your money for another fast drive.

Once I managed to install XP and win98 on 2Gb HD but system was slow. You convinced me to throw 2Gb HD away
