Seem to missing something. I have been reading these forms for two weeks or more and just can't seem to find any one with the problem I have. Really not a problem but more of a way to do it. I am using a ATI 128 card and getting mp2 files (720x480) 23.7 and 480000 which should be dvd ready. All I want to do is put these mp2 files on a dvd-r and play in my standalone dvd player. All the guilds I read are about putting these files on cd's which means you have to make them a lot smaller. My files come in a around 2.2 to 3.8 gig. which will fit on a dvd with room to spare. Could someone please head me in the right direction. Thank Youalwhite@highpines.net

I'm assuming you already have a burner or you wouldn't be considering it. The thing is, you can't just drop the MP2 and WAV files on a DVDR and expect it to play. It all has to be muxed through DVD authoring software (DVD Maestro, Scenarist, Impression DVD, etc) into the VOB files that will then be burned to disc. Also, hopefully your files are already DVD-compliant MPEG2. You'll know when you go to import it into the authoring software. It will either accept them or spit at you. ;) The reason I mention this is because a lot of manufacturers allow for MPEG2 capture but it's not always DVD compliant which means you have to convert it before importing into the authoring software. By the way..not to be rude, dude, but... How could you be reading this site for 2 weeks and miss this...

Thanks for the reply. It is now starting to make sense. I know I couldn't just drop the mp2 files in Nero and go, but I wasn't sure which program to use. Is one of these choices better than the other?

People say that Scenarist is the most versatile. I haven't used it but it's also known to be the most complex and difficult to use. I honestly don't know what most of the people here use. I use DVD Maestro and it's been fairly simple, yet versatile. My biggest complaint with it is that small-ass little window it gives you when moving your chapter point around. Hard to tell where the chapter point is sometimes. You can always set the play cursor and see though.
