View Full Version : long movie into 2cd's fail even with new VRB markrb settings

My friend is stuck at trying to make a backup of his DVD 'the rock' to fit in 2 CD's. With help with marbrb i backed up mine to 3cd's which worked great. How do you fit long movies in 2 cd's. I have changed settings 125 to 163 to fit into 800MB CD's, total max 2400, Mix 800.the log as below, we have done this twice on his machine but we end up with a 1.7GB CCE image. Which once it cuts the 1st BIN file it fails when it tries to cut the 2nd BIN file. We are using the 1pass VBR due to PC speed, can this movie or other long movies be made to fit into 2 cd's, We are using the method found in with markrb new settings

To get the right filesize you have to use at least 2PassVBR or better 3PassVBR. With 1PassVBR the filesize may become correct, or may not, most time it becomes not.

1Pass VBR is very touchy like Labersack said. It's especially bad when you try to put long movies of few discs.

CBR is much more accurate.

In this case the problem might be that the Min bitrate is too high. What is happening is that you are not allowing the bitrate to go below 800. Drop it to 300 and see if it is better.

You can also manually force the Max rate lower by setting the Max Avg to a lower number then was calculated.

In the case of this movie and other long ones you are much better using the new VCD option at low bitrates. The movie will look much better. VCD uses a bitrate of 1150 and then can put much longer movies on few discs.

three hints if you:
1. Use the load button on the misc tab and load the file VCD.ini in the DVD2SVCD directory. This will change all the settings to the correct values.

2. Use TMPG for mpeg-1 it's much better then CCE for this.

3. There is a bug in the vcd settings for NTSC video. To fix simply check the edit the avs file at video encoding on the frameserver tab.
You will find a line that reads BicubicResize(352,480,0.00,0.75)
change the 480 to 240. It was a mistake and will be fixed soon.
