View Full Version : Keeping All Angles in a Multi-Angle Movie After Splitting to 2 DVD-R's

Is there a method for copying a multi-angle movie to 2 DVD-R's and retaining all angles?

The example I'm using is Planet of the Apes. I've managed to successfully split the movie, but must strip either angle 1 or 2 (which contains the commentary)in order for it to play properly. If I don't strip any angles, the playback contains duplicate frames.

Consequently, I now have a version that houses only the movie on 2 DVD-R's and a version with the commentary on a 2nd set of DVD-R's. This can prove rather costly, however.

Just curious.

Didn't IfoEdit did this job correct?

Make sure you don't split at a cell containing an angle.
I'll try to check that out.

Thanks for the response Derrow.

I'll try it again tonight and post my results.

No luck Derrow.

I re-split Planet of the Apes, using the default setting for the cell location since it did not contain an angle, but still receive frames during playback from both angle 1 and 2 which are first noticeable at Title 1, Chapter 2, 4:16.

This is also the spot in VTS_10_0.IFO Overview where cells 3 through 6 contain the different angles. Moreover , this continues throughout the movie unless only one angle is retained.

Please advise if you think I'm doing something incorrectly. Am I to presume then that IfoEdit should allow multi-angle movies to function normally after splitting to 2 DVD-R's?

Pitty though.

I'm not sure if IfoEdit is preserving the angles when splitting to 2 discs, but I thought it should.

I'm going to check that out my self with the same Movie, and tell you if it worked.

Not sure if this si the same problem,

When I try to split Star Wars Episode 1 onto 2 disks, I find that all of the 5 "angles" which contain the different opening title languages are displyed sequentially.

Is this a known issue or am I doing it wrong !

I can strip the other languages, but I would like to know how it works/should work.

Try leaving the dvd menus so it can be played correctly.

I'm having the same problem red321 has. I'm splitting Toy story 2 (my version has 3 angles) and eaven using the menu to select the language i still get the 3 angles together. I mean, every chapter that has the angles is diplayed 3 times and then it goes to next one.
One strange thing i noticed is that when splitting using ifoedit 0.94 i did not get the "angles" option available.
Any hook?

Try this, this is what I did for Toy Story 2 and it works fine. You basically delete either the wide or full screen vobs.

I split Episode 1 too and it's fine, here's the link as to how I did that one:

You may also want to try this method for Movie-only, no menu rips...

It worked with Treasure Planet also by Disney.

BTW, this method removes the angles. The only ways I've found keeping the angles is to use dvdxcopy or dvdfab, but for some reason these programs leave an angle icon during playback during the angle scenes whereas the original dvd doesn't.
