View Full Version : Parsing error on .m2v file in DVDMaestro

I just used SmartRipper to ripped an HK DVD into streams and tried to load the .m2v video file into DVDMaestro. I've done this before with other titles and haven't run into problems. About halfway through the import process of this file, however, the program kicks up a Parsing Error message. Is there something I can do with another utility that might be able to find and fix this problem with the file?
Thanks,

Try to regenerate the M2V file by running it through pulldown.exe with the -nopulldown option.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't seem to do it.
Have you ripped into chapters or original VOB streams?
I never author with ripped material (all my authoring is from self-generated DV-footage), so I am unfamiliar with the means by which SmartRipper parses chapters from VOBs. I am just wondering if, and only IF, you ripped into ~chapters~, SmartRipper might have mistakenly failed to preserve the exact GOP structure at the chapter-break points. This is only a hypothesis, and doubtless others on the forum have far greater experience with SmartRipper than myself, and may know this to be implausible within SmartRipper.
Good luck, and please report back if you find a solution. I'm assuming that, if only for the purposes of elimination, you have attempted to re-rip the offending stream, and reparse it?
Arky ;o)

I ripped to VOB streams and set the Demux to Extra File option so they could be loaded into DVDMaestro. I did try extracting a second time to make sure I hadn't messed up, but got the same results.
Seems like there should be some utility out there that could go through and check files for validity...

Did you ever get this parsing error fixed.
I have struck EXACTLY the same thing.
Smartripper demux to extra file. I have reempged from 5.2Gb down to 3.9Gb.
Import .m2v asset into Maestro, and then get the "parsing Error"
The original .m2v (5.9Gb) imports ok.
I have reempegd twice to make sure everything is ok.

uhh, this error is overcome by using DVDDecrypter instead of SmartRipper?
Enf...

Your disk may be pulling a "seamless branch" on you during the movie. If this is the case, then your method won't work until you remove the branch. Try ripping completely to HD, then using IFOEdit to correctly parse out the branch.

Would this be the case even if the original 5.2Gb m2v imports ok
:D

strange...did u rerip the movie onto the other computer or did u copy the files over? Cause i just went thru this crap...and wound up get a new raid controller...i was using the onboard controller and it was causing a read/write error...also had trouble with ifoedit..Now with the new pci raid controller no more problems..

I tried this about six to eight months ago and gave up, after the problems described above.
I got another original of the movie, and went through the same processes, to get the EXACT same error.
Different computers both times, the first didnt have raid the second computer did.
I have NO problems at any other time, just this one movie.
Thanks for your input
