Hey sup guys!
I burned a DVD-RW with Scenarist and I pop it in my DVD player and I get this C : 13 : 00 thingy on the LCD Display and the DVD doesen't play, but the player recognizes the disc as a DVD, but gives this C : 13 : 00 Error. I made folders (AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS) in Scenarist and burned the Folders using DVDiT PE. The total was around 235MB (only about 10 mins.) Could that be a problem why the DVD Player doesen't play the DVD? Also the DVD Plays fine on my DVD-Rom Drive. I insert the disc in the DVD-Rom drive and it begins my first play (DD Trailer) and goes to the menu and plays fine through out. So why isn't the DVD Player not playing it? I am using Pioneer DVD-RW Media.

I also wanted to know how I can link to chapter 2 from a Menu. I can link to tiles. But I want to know how I can link to chapter2 or 3 from a menu. Whenever I try to link it from the BTNS to chapter2 it doesen't link. And yes I have the cursor changed to the Link Command (PInk Arrow).
Thanks in Advance!:)

Sounds like you have a Sony DVD player and if it's an older one, it won't play a DVDRW at all. My older Sony DVP-S7700 will not play any of the discs I make (returns the good ol "disc is dirty" error you report) but the newer Sony NS-700P plays them all fine.

To link to scenes, the menu has to be of the Chapter Type. You can't link to scenes from a standard VMS menu.

Thanks for replying bros.
I do have a Sony.It reads it as a DVD though because I see the DVD Light lighten up on the LCD.<---Weird. And also how do you set the menu to be set as chapter type?
Thanks!:)

If you already have a Title menu, then after adding a second PGC to the VMS, you can select it, and in the information panel in the middle bottom, you can change the menu type...at least, I think that's how it works. I don't remember.

Yep. That's exactly what my DVP-S7700 does. It's a shame. It's a nice unit. Had to buy a new player for the main system though.

Two answers that may help:
1) Try putting all of your menus in a language folder under the VTS. That should permit you to make the links you want.
2) If you author with more than one PGC you will get strange LCD results on settop players. Try planning around using only one PGC. This solved a similar LCD problem for me.
Good luck.

I believe he was just referring to the "DVD" light turning on. This is the same problem my old Sony player has. It recognizes the disc as DVD, lights it up and the returns the C:13:00 error which is Sony's cryptic way of saying "You have bad or dirty disc! No play for you!" hehe :) Damn, I really shouldn't drink and do this stuff.
"Friends don't let friends author DVD's drunk! ;)" hmm... a signature to use. :)
I too have a Sony 7700 and have experanced the C:13:00 error and actually bought a new Pioneer 545 which plays all discs without problems.
But FYI it is possible to get the Sony to play DVD-Rs correctly it is just very fussy about authouring errors which the Pioneer appears to ignore and it is also fussy about DVD-R media.

Does anybody have any clues why my set-top box does not show the time when playing back a MiniDVD authored in Scenarist. The film plays perfectly and you can jump around the film (by entering the time) but you don't actually see the time.
I have tried adding menus and putting language folders within the VMG and VTS - but still don't get the time to be displayed.
My project has one Video (M2V) and one Audio (AC3) beneath VTS->Title 1 with nothing else added. I also get the same problem from ReelDVD........
Can anyone suggest where I'm going wrong...

Can you guys help me out.I'd really really appreciate it!:) I don't know what I am doing wrong.I am attaching these screen shots of my project in Scenarist. This is what I did.
1. In VTS_1 added a the language (english) then I added (dropped) the track onto english.
2. I linked first PGC to that track (Only Pre Command)
3. VideoManager-I added a language and added (dropped) the menus on the language. And dropped the second menu on the first one.
4. I added a another VTS-VTS_2 and added Language (english) and added all of my movie tracks all there.I dropped one track-track1 and dropped all the other tracks on track 1.Then I linked from the menus to each other. And also linked to the first track.I can't link to the other tracks that I dropped over track 1.:( I couldn't create the DVD if I didn't add anything to Title_1 in VTS_1 & Title_2 in VTS-2-so I just dropped the DD Trailer track on Title_1 in VTS_1 & Title_2 in VTS-2without linking because if ididn't add anything to the Titles then Scenarist wont create a DVD.If I don't add anything to language (english) then also Scenarist won't create DVD.So that's why I did that. Then the last Track's PGC, I linked it to Menu1.
Thanks In Advance! I'd really really appreciate it!:)

You need add the menus to the language folders of the VMG and VTS. The Movie should be added to VTS 1->Title_1. If you don't create VMG and VTS language folders you won't need to add anything to them so Scenarist won't complain.
Depending on what you are doing depends on where your links need to point. If you don't want menus then first play should be to Title_1 in VTS 1. This is the default.
Hope this helps...
PS What version of Scenarist are you using ??

itm2uk-Thanks bro!:) i really really appreciate it!
Also, so you mean I have to add the menus two times.
Or I just add menu 1 to VTS under the language folder. And add menu 2 to VMG's language folder.Right?
I have noticed If I don't put a language folder in the VTS, the Video tracks don't play on that VTS.They play fine on a DVD-Rom not in a set-top DVD player.I tested it-I burned to a DVD-R (Pioneer).I added a language folder to the menus. And only the menus show up up on the dvd player. When I click to play all which is correctly linked to Track 1, I get a a da** C:13:00 error.
p.s. I am using Daiken's Pro-version.
Thanks In Advance!!! :)

The menu under the VMG is the root menu (i.e. when you press root on your remote control it goes here) - the menu under each VTS is the menu for that title set (i.e. When you press title on your remote it goes here) !!! The idea being you can have a menu for each VTS - should you want one.
My set-top player will actually play a DVD without the menus. I guess there are limitations on each player.............
A question for you - when you actually get the video tracks to play, do you see the time display on your set-top player ?? cos I don't and its somewhat annoying.. I'm struggling to find out why !!!
