black screen only in *.mpv file

When I encode my *.avi file all I get is a black screen. What's going on?

You're gonna have to give a bit more information than that. Frameserved? fourcc (which codec?) of the avi? CCE settings? Audio in the file?

If it is a divx film, you will need to frameserve it using VFAPI, otherwise CCE can't read it - I made this mistake and got a black screen. To test it, go to settings, then right click on your file and then choose edit. You should see a preview of your film.
