View Full Version : Xmpeg doesn't start encoding

Although I already choose and configured the Divx and the MP3 codecs, Flask doesn't start encoding when I click the encode button, instead it gives me the codec selection window again.
When I select the Divx codec for the second time all the settings I have entered the first time are there, I just have to reconfirm. The MP3 codec on the other hand has to be chosen and configured again.
After that the encoding starts flawless.
This is not that much of a burden when I do single pass but when I try to do 2pass encoding it also happens on the start of the second pass... what is fatal (overflow and everything lost)
Operating system: Win XP pro
Xmpeg 4.5
DiVx 5.01 pro
Can anyone please tell me what to do to avoid this?
Thanks in advance
Mahi
strange sounds as if xmpeg4.5 doesn't remember the settings u made which as far as I know normally one occours von Win98/Me systems,..
(maybe deinstalling Xmpeg (also the regestry) and reinstalling helps)

Hi Selur,
Thanks for the responce.
I already did what you sugested but the results are the same, in fact this is not a new problem for me.
A few weeks agoo I upgraded from Win98Se to Win XP and bought myself the latest Divx, but i had this problem already under win98 with Divx 4 and even before that with Divx 3.11 and the flask 6.0.
If this is not a comon problem I'm beginning to think that it is inherent to my Pc hardware config.
Asus KT133a
Athlon 1200 @ 1300Mhz (9.5x133 FSB)
512Mb pc133 Muskin cas2 ram @ 147MHz set @ 7 nanos.
On the other hand I realy dont need the dual pass anymore, I was very ashtonised by the Divx5.01. I've made over a hundred movies up untill now, always on two CD's (about 1300-1400 Mb/file) with, in my humble opinion, very good quality.
But now I have practically the same quality with single pass standard settings (quality based + Qp + GMC + BD) And I couldn't believe my own eyes the output files are all under 700 MB ???????????
I just did "Sphere" the NTSC edition to PAL 25 fr/sec (720x480 --> 608x288) deinterleased (bob even) and it gave me an output filesize of 467.665 MB...unbelievable!!!!
Kind regards,
Mahi

Hi Selur,
I tried both your suggestions but in vain :(
I'm now going to put everything on the same partition and HD.
I use five partitions...hehe :-)
On HD- 00
-c:\Win XP (only the op. system with a minimum of proggies)
-D:\Win Xp_Progs (Where Xmpeg resides)
-E:\Swap (Swapfile)
-F:\Tempstore (where the output AVI is written to)
On HD- 01
-J:\Viddata (where the VOBs are stored)
Perhaps Xmpeg gets lost while switching partitions
I had the same path's (and the same probs) before upgrading to XP so this could be a possible reason dont you think?
Yeah, that could be the reason if possible try it so that the avi will be on the same hdd or at least on an hdd which letter differs just by one the one that holds the vob's,..
