View Full Version : No preview display with tmpgenc in vbr-mode?

hello,
tmpgenc 2.53 plus,
starting encoding, some source-mpeg-2-files will show only the first frame of source-file, but after that tmpgenc displays only a black preview. And it produces no output-file.
After switching rate-control-mode from VBR to CBR, it works...
Any idea?

If you do a 2pass vbr, then the first pass you don't see anything. You will start seing the video at 50%.

Thanks, good idea, i start trying it with one of my big files (2 GB) now... the result we will see 20.000 frame-days later ;-)
Encoding small files (30MB) I remember, I saw the preview from 1 to 100 %...

Hey, like it or not, as I said if you do a 2pass vbr , first 50% is the first pass when the encoder only "looks" at all frames to see how to allocate the bitrate. So there's no output, nothing to see yet. It actually starts encoding at 50%
