Using DVB-s video out

Has anybody used DVB-s (Hauppauge, Technotrend...) video and audio outputs to play DVD-ripped MPEG2 streams?

All the software I've used only plays PVA streams or DVB-captured MPG streams. Those are not true MPEG program streams.

Anybody has a solution?

I don't think your DVB-s is made for outputting your ripped dvds :P
I have a DVB-c myself, and as you say, you can watch dvb streams without problem. But you also mentioned that your dvbstreams aren't the same as your rips, right? So there's the answer...

As far as I know, DVB streams (PVA files) are simmilar by structure to MPEG2 transport stream. DVD's are pure MPEG2 program streams. There are no problems in converting PVA to program stream. There is even a special version of DVD2AVI that can read them, but I don't know any tool that can do it in reverse.

I thought there may be some filter that will use hardware decoder on DVB card in a way the Hollywood+ drivers work. If somebody knows anything about that, plese come forward.

Since the DVB* software handles all the output, and it is built to handle dvb streams only... that's pretty much why you can't play your ripped dvds.

theres a linux program who can play dvds and even divx files through th tv-out of a dvb card, for mpeg-2 the hardware of the dvb card is used.
so only the right software is needed...

There's a Dvd Player for windows system. It has a directshow filter that can be used for every mpeg2 stream, but I dunno how set it as default decoder. So you can use it with graphedit or with players that allows manual insertion of filters.

Check http://www.offeryn.de/dv.htm for stream converting. I dont have a DVB card but i am interested in whether the PVA stuff can be converted to regular program stream.

I've done that allredy. PVAstrumento works like a charm, converts PVA to MPEG2 with mp2 audio, you can pass it to DVD2AVI and than to whatever you want. I've done several movies, and beleive me it's hard to tell, from final DivX, the difference between the satelitte source and DVD source.
