5.1 dolby divx player ?

hello all,

does anyone know a divx player with 5.1 dolby sound ?
i have tried all players from this site, but none gave me the sound i needed ...
normally i use bsplayer (0.85), because all the settings you can use, but i'm not able to get 5.1 sound comming out of my speakers

when i use powerdvd/windvd i get 5.1 with both DVD and divx, so my sytem is working, but those players don't have all the settings like bsplayer: powerdvd cannot resize correctly, windvd can, but no subtitles (wich i need for chinese movies :p ), and i don't want to put them inside the divx (because that way only 1 language can be used)...

so what i'm looking for is a player that can:
play divx/avi files with 5.1 sound and can display optional subtitles

Check out PowerDivx NextGen 3.12 this is a very good
divx/avi player and perfect for 5.1 Sound (or AC3)!

thx, but i tried that one already, and giving me no splitted signals, so no center speaker and no difference between front and back ...

maybe i'm doing something wrong with some filters or settings, i made the divxfiles, like they described in the divx5 guide (with gordian knot) ...

but they work in both powerdvd and windvd, but when i check sound properties, it looks like they are 2channel sound files in windvd (powerdvd says 6channel) ... ?

What kind of soundcard do you have ?

And did you use an S/PDIF output ?

i have an nvidia "nForce" mainboard: msi KN420pro
wich has onboard sound (capable of 5.1 dolby output) and spdif, but my speakers (creative labs inspire 5300) only have analog connections so i cannot use spdif ...

and in some mediaplayers (like bsplayer), you need to enable spdif to get 5.1 sound ?
because 6 speaker setting is always "greyed out", so i cannot select it properly ...

the onboard sound is pretty much ok, i'm sure of that :)

about those filters, i installed the audiofilterpackage from this site, is that enough ?

look at Zulu-Entertainment (http://www.zulu-entertainment.de/downloads.htm) for a file called "Iviaudio AC3 Filter" (site only in german, sorry), and download it.
for Win98/Me click on "registerfilters-98.bat" and for Win2000/XP click on "registerfilters-2k.bat", to uninstall the filters check the "unregister...bat" files.
These are the only filter package do you need for AC3 output :D !

only powerdvd and windvd are giving 5.1 sound, so it's probably a compability problem ... ?

The new Intervideo filters (WinDVD 4 Plus) work great and allow you to select 4.0 or 5.1 decoding from any directshow player, not only from within WinDVD. I'm using them with Zoom Player and it works like a charm without any hack or strange patch.

I've got the intervideo ac3 directshow filter installed.
$40 sblive value with spdif out and set to digital out only.
zoomplayer 2.60b with intervideo settings set to spdif out.
my spdif cable is half a rca cable and half a mini-plug cable, stuck together with electrical tape. (I'm a cheap bastard)
all on WinXP with the soundbastard live XP drivers (from their site).

5.1 divx+ac3 works great, and divx+mp3/ogg/whatever plays 2-channel (better than a kick in the head but not as good as ac3!) :)

installed the intervideo filters again, but no difference :(

i cannot use spdif because my speakers don't have that connection (analog only)...
and with the intervideofiles (with zoomplayer, bsplayer ...), i can only select stereo and spdif, and not the 5.1-6 speakers, so maybe there lies the problem ?

but the strange thing is, i can play the same files with powerdvd and windvd:
in powerdvd, wich uses the cyberlink filter, i can select 6 speakers, and the program detects 6 channel sound (and plays full 5.1 too :p )
in windvd, wich uses the intervideo filter, i cannot select 6 speakers (like in the rest of the players), and detects 2 channel sound BUT windvd plays 5.1 sound, with center/subw & front & rear different channels ... ?

so i still have hope, but what to do ...
and i don't want to buy a new soundcard, i'm a cheap bastard too ;)

Are you using WinDVD 4 Plus' AC3 filter? Previous versions didn't work for me, but this one lets me select 4.0/5.1 decoding from Zoom Player (but not from WinDVD, now that's strange!!).

will the filters provided with the "windvd 4 trial" version do, or really the "plus" package needed (like you said :D )

the problem is solved methinks :D

but not in the way i was expecting it:
the main reason i needed a divx-player (and not dvd), was to have subtitles that i could turn on and off, so i tried a lot of them, but none was giving 5.1 dolby sound :confused:

so i wrote this thread "5.1 dolby divx player ?" to get those divxplayers working with 5.1 sound, instead of asking for a way to view subtitles with any player ...
and i just found out, you can do this very easely with "directvobsub"
lol :D

so the topic should have been: "subtitles for avi with DVDplayer" or something :devil:

ok i think u solved your problem, anyway i'll answer u if u still wanna use bsplayer. Uninstal ac3 filters and bsplayer (download installer for bsplayer and then u can uninstall). Then instal WinDVD (trial is ok but for a limited period of time, after that u could have no sound at all). Then instal bsplayer, set in preferences/audio intervideo decoder. After all this u should be able to select 4 or 6 speakers on intervideo filter.

I also have a question for u guys: i prefer making divx movies with ac3-3_2 sound, althrough i have 4.1 speaker system. I also consider buying a 5.1 system with external decoder. Will I be albe to hear the 5.1 sound played from Divx movie? Is the external decoder able to find the ac3 stream and decode it with no problem?

Guys guyz one sec here.

So you have analog speakers? Set SPDIF out on intervideo codec. This gives SPDIF to your soundcard which processes the AC3 and gives to your analog speakers the correct decoded channel. SB LIVE 5.1 & Creative 2200 are analog speakers and we all use SPDIF/Out...!

I think the SBLive drivers will handle the change, as it really output as analogue to the speakers, but well, the SB 5.1 is the DD decoder :)

What I mean is that now Digital Output only doesn't really matter depending of the soundcard...

Yes, you just need to select SPDIF out and hook a rca or optical cable from your computer to your 5.1 receiver... I too have a nForce board and sound is fantastic! I have it hooked up optically and my AC3/XVID files pass through perfectly, my Vorbis/XVID files play as 5.1 sound also, yet they aren't true 5.1 but sound great none the less. Anyway, with the nForce board you get 5.1 sound all the time no matter what... it's beautiful!
