Looks like Panasonic is gonna support MPEG4 in this device.

The one good thing about New Zealand - cheap japanese cars :) $7,500 USD for a fully kitted wrx - second hand offcourse.

but back to 'how to obtain japanese components'

check out www.pricejapan.com

very good and rather inexpensive.

Hi,

i've heard that the new APEX DVD Player will have a windows media player inside. So you can upload any codec you use in your windows to your player. Nice thing.

I HAD an APex that had various things disabled(no comment),but it was a weird and moody player. It was the three disc changer, and it played mp3's as well.Ive since sold it,and have moved back to my trusty SOny that never skips or pauses(on side changes).

Im all for any easy hardware solution for Tv,but I doubt Id buy another APex.

Chinese make good fireworks, but I'm gonna stick to my Sony:)

BTW:

Anyone know how to IVTC a laserdisc without getting junk frames?

My encode looks fine, until I get what looks like a bad edit. The only way to describe it is that it looks like a skip.I get what looks like repeat frames occasionally(and not always in the same scene?!)

I Capture with Dazzle DVCII,use the DVD method of GNOT,and IVTC from GNOT to Virtual dub and it looks fine.I tried removing them, but since Im using Vdub,it wont get the exact frames because of wide keyframes.

Short of that,
Life is good:)

Sorry it was off the subject.
